Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

ADAS equips cars with autonomous driving engineering like Lidar-based sensors, high-resolution backup-camera and automatic emergency braking systems or the forward-collision warning systems.

The correct calibration of this sensitive equipment requires the correct tools and skilled technicians!

What is ADAS?

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems use various sensors and cameras along with a vehicle’s computer system in order to help a driver with parking or driving tasks. These cameras and sensors can be found in many different places on vehicles such as the windshield, side mirrors, front and rear bumpers, etc. ADAS helps with functions like Automatic Emergency Brake, Forward and Rear Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Night Vision System, Blind Spot Detection, Around View Monitoring, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Parking Assist. When ADAS detects what could be a hazardous situation, the vehicle will either warn the driver or it make actions necessary to stop a collision. If the sensors and cameras that are used for these functions are not calibrated or aligned properly, the ADAS system will fail to operate correctly.

When Is Calibration Necessary?

There are many things that can cause an Advanced Driver Assistance System to be thrown out of alignment and require calibration. Standard services such as windshield or bumper replacement are a common reason to make sure your system is calibrated properly. The ADAS system can also be thrown off from being involved in a collision, having to get body repairs done to a vehicle in areas that sensors are placed, getting a vehicle painted, or even by replacing various parts on a vehicle that require moving an area that is close to sensors and cameras. For example, when replacing the air conditioning compressor on some vehicles you are required to remove the bumper which can contain a sensor used for the Advanced Driver Assistance System. Whenever any of these procedures are performed it is important to make sure the advanced driver assistance system is properly calibrated after. Here at New Concept Auto Service, we are able to perform ADAS calibration on all makes and models including Asian, European, and Domestic vehicles.
